SAKARI SMITHWICK’S STORY

"Shiny Contraptions" is one of Chef Sakari's earliest memories associated with the kitchen, from department store visits with his mother and grandmother during his youth. The love for food became his initial passion, fostered by family meals in Long Island, NY, and the joy of harvesting fresh vegetables in North Carolina during summers. This affinity for food remained special to him throughout his life.

At the age of 15, Chef Sakari embarked on his first professional role as a McDonald's Grill Cook. He believed this would be his chosen career path until a high school food program director recognized potential within him. This encouragement led him to pursue a degree in culinary arts, culminating in a Bachelor's in Restaurant Management from the State University of New York at Delhi. During this time, he was honored as the Student Chef of The Year and secured a Gold Medal as part of Team USA in Costa Rica.

Transitioning to New York City, Chef Sakari showcased his talents in some of the world's finest restaurants, including Marea, Eleven Madison Park, and Restaurant Ukiyo. Following this chapter, he expanded his horizons through experiences in Washington, D.C., Seattle, and the Netherlands.

Returning home, he established his pop-up concept, "Noble Promise," symbolizing a promising future rooted in keeping one's word. This venture drew notable attention from industry figures and brands alike. Amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chef Sakari's father tragically passed away in 2021, prompting reflection on his life's direction.

Despite adversity, Chef Sakari persevered, collaborating with a celebrity basketball player, launching his media concept, "Noble Promise Studios," participating in Hell's Kitchen on FOX, and gaining recognition through Food Network's Chopped. And being Appointed Executive Chef of SKS by LG. and working with Brands such as Hexclad. Yet, personal loss spurred him to prioritize family and health! 

His newfound purpose led him to establish "Smithwick Provisions" in 2023, a Provisions Company focused on nourishing the body through food. His featured products, including the "Cyber Green Juice" and Vegan Banana Pudding, reflect his commitment to health-conscious options.

However, his ultimate passion lies in improving food choices for children. Chef Sakari firmly believes that investing in the future, particularly in children, is the key to changing the world for the better. His journey invites others to join him in this transformative mission.
